Equipment used: - Computer: MacBook Pro laptop with Windows installed - Monitor - 24" Asus: We had to replace the standard fluorescent backlight with very large tungsten fixtures to funnel in more light to capture the screen. In addition, we flipped the monitor 180 degrees to eliminate a shadow from the driver board and set the system preferences on the computer to rotate 180 degrees. No special software was used in this process. - Camera: Phantom v640 High Speed Camera at 1920 x 1080, films up to 2700 fps "Why does allrecipes.com in the potato gun sequence appear at once, and not the text first and images second?   On March 18, 1970, Local 36 of New York City's National Association of Letter Carriers began a wildcat strike protesting low pay and poor job advancement. Postal workers in more than 30 cities joined the strike, crippling businesses nationwide. President Richard Nixon tried using the National Guard to process mail in New York City before negotiating with workers to end the strike almost two weeks after it began. Vincent R. Sombrotto (president emeritus of the National Association of Letter Carriers and member of Local 36), William Burrus (president of the American Postal Workers Union), and George Gould (former Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Postal Operations and Services) discuss these momentous events and the dramatic changes the strike sparked in the nation's mail service and its employees' lives.

The original Broadway production was a huge success, playing over 500 performances. The show embarked on a nation-wide tour after it completed its Broadway run in 1929. Norma Terris, Broadway's original Magnolia Hawks, went off to Hollywood to make films and actress Irene Dunne took over the role for the remainder of the national tour run, which ended in 1930. A revival of the original Zeigfeld production, which reunited much of the original cast and included the great bass Paul Robeson as Joe, was staged at the Casino Theatre on Broadway in 1932. After an unsuccessful attempt at converting a silent filmed version of Edna Ferber's novel of the same name on which the show is based on, into the much acclaimed musical version by overlaying musical numbers over the action and re-shooting sequences of the film to include sound, the film rights bought by Universal, were put into good use and the result was this critically acclaimed 1936 film version of the groundbreaking stage musical.
